Historically, Tai Chi Chuan or Taijiquan has been regarded as a martial art and its traditional practitioners still teach it as one. Its literal translation means "supreme ultimate fist".

Nowadays, Tai Chi is practiced in every corner of the world for its health benefits. One of the main aims of Tai Chi is to foster the circulation of 'Chi' within the body, so the health and vitality of the person are enhanced. The positive flow of Chi promotes a calm and tranquil mind, strengthens the body, improves health and well-being, while the gentle series of movements increase the internal circulation.

Tai Chi also contributes to being able to better stand, walk, move, run, etc. Many practitioners notice benefits in terms of correcting poor posture, alignment or movement patterns which can contribute to tension or injury.
